If you're anything like I was when I was a teenager, you think free software is awesome and you'd really like a friendly space to hang out and connect with others who share your interest.
Unfortunately, in the past there hasn't been very much at all for people your age who're interested in free software. Most things have been for people who are at least old enough to be going to university. I'm working on Mission:Libre to fix that.
When Mission:Libre's up and running, it's going to be a community and a resource for all things young people in free software. There's going to be more issues of Libre!, an online community, exciting clubs and lots of help to find your place in free software and learn how to program, write and fight for your freedom.
It's still early days for Mission:Libre. Bringing lots of people into the community is going to take a while, so some of what I have planned is going to take some months to be ready. But even though Mission:Libre is still just beginning, you're invited to sign up! While I work on building a big community, we can still do plenty of fun stuff with whoever is with us right now.
If you have any ideas for stuff you want to do, give me a head's up! I can also connect you with people to hang out with, find resources to teach you about computers, help you find and apply to courses and scholarships or just be there to bounce ideas off! You can sign up to join Mission:Libre for free at missionlibre.org/join.
Remember, Mission:Libre is for you! I'm very interested in what you think and what you'd like to see. During these early days, you can always e-mail me at carmen@missionlibre.org. I hope I hear from you!
