About the party
You're invited! Come party with us and join our movement for a kinder digital world with free software!
Free software (that's free as in freedom, not as in price!) is software everyone has the right to share with others, learn from and change. It belongs to everyone, not just the companies who write it. Free software treats us and the people we care about the way we deserve.
Our party is a chance for you to have fun learning how free software can make your life better, even if you don't know anything about computers. There will be lots of exciting things to do: we'll play games, make music and art and talk about ways you can use free software to ace school and life. Other teens from all over the world will be joining us online! There will be computers and musical instruments for you to play with, as well as a table full of snacks.
Entry is free, but please sign up using the links at the top of the page. You must be 13 to 15 years old to take part.
I'm not selling anything! Mission:Libre is not-for-profit. Free software is a cause, a little like campaigns against drink driving or pollution. You can read more about free software here or more about Mission:Libre on the front page.
What you need to know if you're joining us in-person
Future Whangaparaoa Hub is at Coast Plaza, north of Auckland (map). The Hub is near the escalator on the bottom floor of the mall, near the laundromat.
There isn't any storage at the Hub, so please don't bring anything valuable!
We're guests in Future Whangaparaoa's space. Please treat the Hub with respect. Our party is alcohol, drug, smoke and vape free.
If you have a disability or allergies, please tell me at carmen@missionlibre.org. The Hub is wheelchair-accessible and there's lots of disabled parking nearby.
What you need to know if you're joining us online
You can join in over Jitsi, a free software videoconferencing program that works like Zoom. You'll be sent instructions on how to get Jitsi working in the days before the party.
